The Audi A6 remains a premium choice for many car enthusiasts in the competitive executive luxury segment. The Audi A6 is an important model for the German carmaker in India as well as abroad, and has faced stiff competition from other brands such as the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class, both of which were upgraded last year. To compete with these models, Audi is now readying a facelifted A6 which should hit Indian showrooms before the end of this year.
The facelifted Audi A6 is expected to make its debut in October at the 2014 Paris Motor Show followed by an Indian introduction soon after. The car, however, is not likely to get a major sea change in terms of design. The new Audi A6 will receive a few changes on the front fascia - redesigned headlights with all LED lighting, revised profile for Audi's signature daytime running lights (DRL), and a new bumper. The taillights and rear bumpers will be refreshed as well.
The new Audi A6 is expected to receive some changes on the insides too. The cabin - specifically material and hues - will be upgraded, and the MMI infotainment system is set to get better as well. The engine and gearbox options though, particularly for India, will be the same. The new A6 will come with both 2-litre and 3-litre diesel engines mated to automatic gearboxes and the latter will also sport all wheel drive or quattro in Audi speak. These engines will nonetheless boast of improved CO2 or fuel economy ratings and chances are, the power and torque figures might be bumpers up a bit too.
We expect the prices of the facelifted Audi A6 to increase, but the increment will be marginal in percentage terms.
