Since its launch in 2008 the Audi Q5 has been doing fairly well around the world. However, it has been battling incoming competition without any major updates for a while now and it’s about time that the little Q got a few new lines to show off.
The facelifted Q5 gets new headlights, and a new front bumper with chrome surrounds for the fog lamps, a restyled front grille, new tail lights, a restyled air diffuser under the rear bumper and new exhaust pipes. Also, the black side cladding that ran along the sides of the car has been done away with.
On the inside, the facelifted Q5 has the same level of equipment and features as the current Q5, however, the new beige interiors are a relief from the earlier Q5’s dull all-black interior trim. We sincerely hope Audi offers the facelifted Q5’s interior trim here in India as well.
While that’s all we have for now on the Q5, come June 2012, Audi will be revealing a sportier version badged the SQ5 or Q5 S depending on whether the engine is a 3.0 litre V6 supercharged petrol engine or a 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel engine. Expect lots of radical styling and uprated suspension on the sporty Q5.
The Audi Q5 is currently on sale in India from Rs. 39.80 lakh (ex-showroom) New Delhi. The vehicle is available with three engine options, 2.0 litre TDI, 2.0 litre TFSI and a 3.0 litre TDI engine.
