Audi India is on an aggressive growth path setting record sales month after month. In the first quarter of 2012, it sold 2,268 Audi cars across the country, up 41 percent over the same period in 2011, when it sold 1,611 units. The month of March proved to be strongest with 1,002 units sold, a 47 percent jump over March 2011 when it sold 681 cars, and nearly the same number of cars it sold in the whole of 2008 (1,050 cars)!
“Our impressive sales performance this quarter is testimony to the positive customer response to progressive design, world-class services and high qualitative network growth,” said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India. “We further strengthened our dealer network with the opening of a new Audi showroom in Nagpur recently and have planned for more developments on this front later this year. Learning from our 21 years of market leadership in China, our strategy of building a strong brand, a high quality network and a strong product portfolio is paying its dividend in India as well.”
To further expand its footprint in the country, the German marquee will shortly announce new dealerships in Coimbatore and Lucknow targeting tier II cities while adding more showrooms in Mumbai and Delhi.
“Our recently launched high performance sports Coupe Audi TT has received an overwhelming response from customers across the country. Our business luxury limousine – A8L, Audi A6 and the Audi A4 have contributed greatly to this sales performance. This is the beginning of what we believe will be Audi’s most successful year in India to date and I am confident that we will continue to meet the needs and demands of the young and aspirational Indian luxury car buyer,” added Perschke.
Audi currently markets 10 products in the Indian portfolio – A4, A6, A7 Sportback, A8L, RS 5 Coupe, Q5, Q7, the recently launched TT and its super sports model, the R8 Coupe and Spyder that are available in V8 and V10 engine options.
