The Auto Expo is a huge platform for car manufacturers in India to showcase the best of their concepts as well as the cars they plan to launch in the country. Here’s a list of cars we expect to see at BMW’s stand at the biggest auto show in Asia
BMW 6 Series GT
Since BMW has already confirmed that the 6GT will make its Indian debut in 2018, it could be possible that it is launched at the Auto Expo itself. The 6 Series GT is BMW’s answer to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, which was launched earlier in the year. Under the bonnet, the 6 GT is likely to be powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines that power the 5 Series sedan. These include the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel, a 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor. When launched, the 6 GT will be placed between the 5 Series and 7 Series executive sedan with a price tag in the range of Rs 60-70 lakh.

BMW X3
BMW showcased the third-generation of its X3 SUV earlier this year. The India-bound SUV is a big departure from its predecessor as it is based on the new CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform that underpins other BMWs such as the 7 Series and the 5 Series. It also gets an all-new design inspired by the bigger X5 and is offered with five engine options - two diesel and three petrol motors. When launched in India, we expect the X3 to be offered with one petrol and one diesel engine only.

BMW i3
The launch of the BMW i3 has been delayed more times than we can count. But given the country's sudden push for electric mobility and the likely prominence of EVs at the 2018 Auto Expo, the i3 launch could be possible. If launched, the i3 will be BMW’s second product under the ‘i’ family after the i8, which was launched back in 2015. The i3 is likely to be powered by an electric motor capable of generating 170PS of power and 250Nm of torque. This motor should give it an effective range of 180km on a single charge. In addition, a range extender could be optional, like in international markets.

BMW M5
Every BMW car list deserves a mention of the M5, the king of performance sedans. for the uninitiated, the 2018 M5 is based on the latest 5 Series sedan, which made its way to India in June 2017. To differentiate it from the regular sedan, the M5 gets different front bumpers with large air intakes, quad-exhaust pipes and a diffuser at the rear and larger M Sport wheels with sport tyres. It carries forward the 4.4-litre petrol engine that powered the F10 M5. However, BMW claims the motor has been revised to produce more power (600PS) and torque (750Nm) than before. It is also the first M sedan in history to get BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Sadly though, the M5 is not likely to be launched or present at the 2018 Auto Expo.
