Bajaj Auto expanded its Discover portfolio by launching the new Discover 125. The new bike is the third bike with a 125cc displacement under the Discover brand umbrella after the Discover 125ST and 125T. The Discover 125 looks visually similar to its other 125cc siblings and employs the same chiselled-muscular tank alongwith an aggressive fairing with sharp edged headlamps. The major alteration has been done to its powerplant. The 125cc, air-cooled, 4-valve, TwinSpark DTS-i engine churns out 11.5PS of power and 10.8Nm of torque. The power figure is less by 1PS, while torque figure remains unchanged in comparison with the 125T. This has been done to hike the new motorcycles fuel efficiency. Bajaj claims that the new Discover 125 will deliver 76kmpl (as per CMVR norms).
Commenting on the launch K Srinivas, President - Motorcycle Business, said, “Many consumers are tired of the regular commuter bikes which offer only around 8 Ps Power. They would ideally wish to upgrade to sportier, attractive bikes with superior technology and features. However barriers such as price and mileage deter them to move on to the 125cc segment. The all new Discover 125 offers equivalent mileage of a 100cc and comes with exciting performance and features all at an attractive price. We want the Indian commuter to live life to the fullest and “Jiyo Dana-Dan.”
Although the Discover 125 is a budget motorcycle, Bajaj has loaded the bike with features like alloy wheels, Nitrox suspension and petal disc brakes at front (optional). Bajaj has priced the new Discover 125 aggressively, as the standard variant will be available at Rs 46,699 (ex-showroom Maharashtra) and disc brakes version at Rs 48,619 (ex-showroom Maharashtra). At this price point, both the variants of the new Discover 125 are around Rs 3,600 cheaper than the Discover 125T’s variants. The new Discover 125 will be available in six colour options – Electron Blue, Wine Red, Charcoal Magenta, Charcoal Green, Silver Blue, and Silver Gold. The Discover 125 will be pitched against the Honda CB Shine, Hero Super Splendor and TVS Phoneix 125 among the others in our two-wheeler spectrum.
