Bajaj Discover 150S in dealerships

Bajaj Auto is launching a brand new motorcycle – the Discover 150S within the next week or so. The company has quietly sent the Discover 150S to select Bajaj dealerships ahead of its launch.    

The technical specifications and pricing have not been revealed yet, but the Discover 150S has an all-new four-valve, air-cooled 150cc engine, which is expected to produce about 15PS of peak power. Transmission is via a five-speed gearbox in the five-up shift pattern.

The Discover 150S looks quite similar to the now discontinued Discover 125ST and shares body panels as well from the 125ST. The instrument panel has been carried forward from the 125ST as well as the rear monoshock suspension.

One of the complaints against the 125ST and indeed one of the main reasons for its poor sales was attributed to the high rear seat – effectively inconveniencing pillion riders – more specifically, ladies, to get on and off the motorcycle.

Bajaj seems to have taken that feedback seriously indeed and the new Discover 150S sports a flat and wide seat, and looks to prove to be comfortable as well, both for the rider as well as the pillion. Further details about the Discover 150S are expected once the company formally launches the motorcycle. It will be available in two variants – one with a front disc brake and the other without.

The Discover 150S will be followed by the launch of another motorcycle – the Discover 150F, which will be the semi-faired variant of the 150S.
