2017 Pulsar range

Teased a few days ago, the 2017 Bajaj Pulsar range has been launched quietly and is now available at the manufacturer’s showrooms across India. The new range flaunts cosmetic upgrades along with engine and exhaust tweaks to two models. The company has named the new range the Laser Edge Collection.

The new Pulsars get better seats, an updated exhaust system conforming to BSIV norms, and blue-and-white colour scheme choices. Notably, the engine and exhaust system upgrades are restricted to the Pulsar 180 and 135.

The smallest of the Pulsar family is priced at Rs 60,178 (ex-showroom, Delhi). As mentioned before, the revised 135cc single-cylinder motor produces 13.3PS of power at 9000rpm and 11.4Nm of peak torque at 7500rpm. Though the figures remain unchanged, the carbon emissions are tackled more efficiently via the new exhaust system.

In terms of changes, the Pulsar 180 sees the maximum number of upgrades and is priced at Rs 79,545 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Along with the cosmetic and engine tweaks, the new version will be available with a rear disc brake unit, which will surely add to the braking efficiency of the bike. The instrument cluster also flaunts an ice blue backlight, as opposed to the previous amber. In addition, the bike also gets a slightly bumped up power figure. As opposed to the 16.78PS of the outgoing version, the bike produces 17.02PS of power, whereas the torque remains intact at 14.22Nm.

Weirdly enough, the 2017 Pulsar 150 is still continuing with a BSIII-compliant engine and exhaust system. However, it too is expected to get the new motor in a matter of a few weeks. The bike is priced at Rs 73,513 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Apart from these, the Pune-based manufacturer will be launching its most powerful motorcycle ever – the Dominar 400 – on December 15. The bike will comply with the BSIV norms, as will be the case with all future Bajaj motorcycles.
