Vauxhall is also opening the doors to its Heritage Centre in Park Street, Luton, in order to mark the 70th anniversary of the Bedford OB. The centre will be open to the public for a day, wherein visitors can get a deeper insight about one of their much loved automobile icons.
As far as the gathering at Bedfordshire is concerned, Vauxhall predicts that this will be one of the largest gatherings of OB Buses produced between 1939 and 1951. As part of the celebrations, the convoy of OB Buses will make their way from Luton to Bletchley Park, a site that was once the location for secret British code breaking activities during WW2. Guests who will join the convoy for the trip will be wearing period costumes in order to bring out the 'feel' of a time bygone. It couldn't be a more fitting way to celebrate the Bedford OB Bus and Coach birthday and there is no doubt about the fact that the occasion is bound to be momentous.
As part of the gala event, Vauxhall is also organizing family themed entertainment at the venue. A further attraction to the entire celebration is a specially sourced display of police vehicles from different eras.
For those who do get to attend this event, it will be a joyous step back into time to commemorate a vehicle that was more than just another bus.
