Power of 400 horses from a 2.5-litre five-pot unit. Standstill to 100kmph in just 3.7seconds. And 507Nm of torque. Say hello to the new Audi TT RS. Revealed in Coupe and Roadster form, the latter also has an impressive 0-100kmph time of just 3.9 seconds.
The TT RS, is not only considerably more powerful than the standard model that sports a 2.0-litre TFSI unit, it even shreds as much as 10kg just by using an aluminium block as opposed to a steel unit. Thanks to the additional power/torque and the reduced weight, the TT RS saves as much as 1.6 seconds to 100kmph. What’s more, in the Coupe guise, the TT RS is half a second faster than the 718 Cayman S. The TT RS comes mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
If it’s an RS model, it needs to look like one right? The Audi TT RS gets the sleek looking headlights just like the standard model but sports a beefier front bumper design with large air dams. The brushed aluminium finish around the grille and on the front lip is a neat touch. At the back the TT RS gets new optional OLED taillights, exhaust and a larger wing.
On the inside, the biggest change from the standard model is the addition of sportier RS seats, lots of lots of aluminium and Carbon elements and of course, the RS logos. Just like the R8, drivers can start the TT RS by the push of a button on the steering wheel. Other features include the fully digital Audi virtual cockpit with its 12.3-inch screen and paddle shifters.
Internationally, the Audi TT RS Coupe has been priced at around the Rs 50 lakh (€ 66,400) marker while the Roadster carries a sticker price of Rs 52 lakh (€ 69,200). But in India, with the standard model priced at Rs 61.50 lakh, expect the RS spec to demand a premium.
