Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has unveiled a new electric cycle under his Being Human brand. The new Being Human Cycles was launched on World Environment Day and Salman Khan cycled from his residence in Bandra to Mehboob Studios, where the cycle was officially unveiled. The Being Human E-Cycle will be offered in two options - BH27 and BH12. The base E-Cycle has been priced at Rs 40,000 while the top-spec BH27 model carries a price tag of Rs 57,000. Both will be available in four colours - white, yellow, red and black, while more new variants will be launched soon. The Being Human E-cycles are currently only available in Mumbai and the company plans to launch it in more cities in the coming few months.
Commenting on the launch, Atul Gupta, CEO, Being Human E-Cycles, said, “Being Human E-Cycles are designed to be user-friendly and easy to manage on Indian roads. One of the main differentiators of the e-cycles is that they are likely to need less maintenance as they have fewer moving parts than conventional bicycles. With a maximum speed of 25 Km/hr, the Being Human E-Cycle, as certified by ARAI, is exempt from various regulations, and does not require a license or registration to operate.”
In terms of design, the Being Human Cycle looks similar to any conventional bicycle but it houses a small rechargeable electric motor which is good enough to propel the cycle up to a 25kmph top speed. The electric motor can be actuated with a button that is attached to the handlebar and has a range of 30km, which should be sufficient for cycling around cityscapes. According to the manufacturer, the Being Human E-Cycle has been tested for about one and half years.
