While most Chinese manufacturers are well-known for their unoriginal motorcycles, certain brands such as Benda have really challenged the status quo by making some of the most unique and radical looking bikes. One such motorcycle is the Benda LF-01 Concept, unveiled at the Chongqing Motor Show in China in September last year. Back then, Benda had announced the production version would be launched in the second half of 2021, and it looks like the brand is bang on schedule. It recently announced that the production model, the LFC700, will be launched in its home market on July 1.
The best bit is the Benda LFC700 looks pretty much identical to the wild LF-01 Concept. That said, ride-by-wire throttle and cruise control won’t make it to the production model. One aspect of the concept motorcycle that really stood out was the massive 310-section rear tyre. Yes, Benda is offering the same fat rubber (wrapped on an 18-inch alloy wheel) in the production variant too, albeit as an optional fitment. Even the stock tyre is pretty meaty, at 240mm. It uses a 19-inch alloy wheel up front, wrapped with a 130-section tyre.
The bike is powered by a 680cc inline-four liquid-cooled engine, churning out 97PS at a whopping 12,000rpm. That’s rather peaky for a cruiser motorcycle, we say! It is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch. Benda says the bike can reach an electronically limited top speed of 180kmph, pretty decent for a bike of its class. Braking duties are handled by dual discs up front with radial calipers and a disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS as standard. The motorcycle is suspended on an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock - both fully adjustable.
At 695mm, the seat is low enough for shorter riders. This, coupled with the drag bars, should ensure a comfortable yet sporty riding position. Pair it with the generous 20-litre fuel tank and you’ve got a potent mile-muncher. The bike tips the scales at 215kg, which isn’t all that much for a beefy-looking cruiser. Benda has hinted the bike will be priced somewhere around CNY 40,000, about Rs 4.58 lakh. That’s excellent value for money, if you ask us! Benda won’t be entering India but recently, it launched its first bike in Italy, the Benda BD300 Sporty. Check out all the details here.
