In a surprising turn of events, Benelli launched the Leoncino 250 in India well before its expected launch date. Priced at 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the baby scrambler is currently the most affordable Benelli one can buy in India. You could even put down a token amount of Rs 6,000 via the company’s website to reserve the bike for yourself. Having said that, Benelli dealerships suggest that you’d have to wait for up to three to five weeks to get your hands on one. Bummer, right?

But then again, it is a unique little bike and that’s probably the price you have to pay for it. The Leoncino 250 carries over the same styling as its elder sibling, albeit in a tighter package. It features an oval headlight and new paint schemes which helps it differentiate itself from the Leoncino 500.

The baby scrambler is powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that puts out 25.8PS of power and 21Nm of torque. The motor works in conjunction with a 6-speed gearbox. In terms of underpinnings, the Leoncino 250 comes equipped with a steel trellis frame, a 41mm upside-down fork and a monoshock. Its braking setup consists of a single 280mm disc up front and a 240mm  rear disc brake. Dual-channel ABS is part of the standard fitment. All this amounts to a weight of 153kg (dry).
