Benelli has launched its retro roadster, the Imperiale 400, in a limited edition avatar in Thailand. Christened the Imperiale 400 Retro Edition, the bike is limited to just 100 units. It’s priced at TBH 1,39,900 which roughly translates to Rs 3.40 lakh.
Not much has changed in the Retro Edition. The limited edition Imperiale 400 is merely an accessorised version of the standard model. It features fork gaiters and a smoked flyscreen, which is eerily similar to the one offered by Royal Enfield on the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
The bike doesn’t get any mechanical updates. It continues to be powered by the 374cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine churning out 21PS at 6,000rpm and 29Nm at 3,500rpm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Since the BS6 norms kicked in, Benelli’s India portfolio comprises just the Imperiale 400. We loved the bike in its BS4 avatar, but does it remain the best in the segment even in its BS6 avatar? We spent a fair amount of time with the bike and here’s what we thought of it. As for the Imperiale 400 Retro Edition coming to India, it’s unlikely. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if the brand launches the flyscreen and gaiters as an accessory.
