Bharat Forge, an auto components manufacturer, is set to enter the Indian electric two-wheeler space by teaming up with Tork Motors. The latter is a Pune-based EV manufacturer.
Tork Motors has now met the FAME II regulations, which mean, its upcoming electric motorcycle, the T6X should be eligible for the subsidies as well. As of March 2021, Bharat Forge owns a 49% stake in Tork Motors.
The Tork T6X has been under development for a while and if everything goes as planned, it could roll off the production line soon. As per Bharat Forge and Tork Motors, the launch timeline for their EV is set for the second half of 2022.
As of now, the Indian electric market is populated with EVs like the Revolt RV400 (electric motorcycle), Ather 450X, Ola S1, Simple Energy Simple One, TVS iQube Electric and Bajaj Chetak among the known electric scooter names.
