EagleRider India, a premium motorcycle rental and touring company, has planned a once-in-a-lifetime ride from Delhi to London. The American firm, whose first Indian franchise is based out of Delhi, is looking for 16 riders who will ride through 16 countries over 66 days. I don’t know whether the alliteration in the previous sentence was a coincidence, but what I do know is that, with this ride, EagleRider is celebrating 25 years of its international presence. Registrations for the ride are already underway on EagleRider India's website and it will be flagged off from Delhi on June 15, and will conclude in London on August 19, 2017.
To keep the experience smooth for the participants, EagleRiders will be arranging and facilitating visa clearance, hotels and more. The cost per rider is Rs 21 lakh, and the amount will cover the motorcycle, return airfare (London to Delhi), route planning and research, all permits and permissions, and all visas and visa fees. The cost also includes support vehicle, insurance (for the bike and rider), all meals, accommodation, medical back-up, riding gear, fuel (loved this one), spares and service. Now isn’t this exciting?
The quoted amount cannot be termed as reasonable, but hey, you don’t get to ride from Delhi to London every day and it’s going to be one epic journey. Moreover, let’s face it, we’ve all (from the biking community) dreamt of going on such a ride at least once in our lifetime.
Speaking on the ride, Samar Sodhi, founder, Big Motorcycle Company, and franchise owner of EagleRider India, said, “Every rider, once in their lifetime aspires to complete the Big Ride. Most bury it under all kinds of excuses; the chosen few decide it’s ‘Now or Never’ and EAGLERIDER India has decided that the time for the ‘Now or Never’ ride is here. EAGLERIDER India gives you that lifetime opportunity to be part of this #BigMotorcycleRide and live that fantasy.”
I totally agree with you Samar, but my excuse is quite basic: I AM BROKE AF! But I am sure a lot of Indian biking enthusiasts aren’t. So, for the ones with deep pockets out there, my advice is, go grab a seat, satisfy your wanderlust and have an experience of a lifetime.
After being flagged off from Delhi, the ride will pass through Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, China, Mongolia and Russia. Then it will enter Europe and will cover Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom, before culminating in London. The distance covered will be around 20,000 kilometres, which is approximately the distance that my daily rider (a first-gen Hero CBZ Xtreme) covers in a year and a half.
