Recent spy pictures of the middleweight adventure tourer from BMW – the F 900 GS reveals that the motorcycle is ready to roll on the streets and will be launched anytime soon. Once launched, it will be the most powerful middleweight adventure tourer motorcycle from BMW. The motorcycle gets an all-new aluminium alloy frame to reduce weight and a revised engine layout which makes the new parallel-twin narrower than other motorcycles in the range. It also gets a new aluminium swingarm and a stronger subframe to increase luggage carrying capacity.

The final drive on the F 900 GS is mounted to the left and exhaust to the right unlike the F 800 GS which has got the opposite geometry. These pictures reveal both the motorcycles – F 900 GS (left) and F 800 GS (right). The company has also chiseled the tank and seat section, which is in direct contact with the rider’s legs, and made it narrower to offer comfortable and easy maneuverability. The bike has been spotted testing with a shorter windscreen and no hand guards though the production version might get a taller windscreen and hand guards as standard. Unlike the F 800 GS which has an under-seat fuel tank, the F 900 GS seems to have a conventional fuel tank in the front. The new bike is also expected to get features like a LED headlight, ride-by-wire throttle with riding modes and tubeless tyres. The F 800 GS is powered by a 798cc engine which develops 86PS @ 7500rpm and a peak torque of 83Nm @ 5750rpm. We expect the F 900 GS to produce 10-15 percent more power than the smaller - F 800 GS.

BMW Motorrad has recently entered the Indian market with 11 motorcycles and has three showrooms in the country operating in Pune, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Now that  the German bike manufacturer  has official dealerships in the country, we expect the F 900 GS to be launched in within a couple of months following its international launch. When it arrives here, the F 900 GS will compete with the Triumph Tiger 800 and the upcoming Honda Africa Twin.
