The Updated BMW M340i Has Arrived, Priced At Rs 74.9 Lakh!

German car maker BMW announced its product offensive for India at the launch of the 6 Series Gran Coupe in Mumbai on November 8. The company plans to usher in a number of new models including the 1 Series. Prices of the sedan version are to be in Rs 23-26 lakh bracket and the model range will be produced at the BMW Chennai facility. Also Read: BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe Launched
BMW is also expected to offer two engine options namely the 118i and the 120d. The 120d will be equipped with the same two-litre oil burner in the 320d currently in India. Though slightly detuned to match emission norms and other dynamics of the car, the two-litre oil burner will develop 179PS of power at 4,000rpm. Torque will remain the same at 320Nm from 1,750rpm to 3,000rpm. The 1.8-litre motor will produce 145PS of power at 4,000rpm and 300Nm of torque from 1,750rpm to 2,500rpm. Both engines have a claimed overall fuel consumption of 14kmpl for the petrol and 18kmpl for the diesel. The engine will be mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox for both variants.
Standard equipment on the 1 Series is expected to be the the BMW ‘ConnectedDrive’ technology, SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, bi-xenon headlamps and more.
The entry level BMW 1 Series will be among the six models to be produced By the Chennai facility by 2013 end.
