BMW has launched a new ‘Tech Edition’ of the petrol-powered X1 at Rs 43 lakh (ex-showroom). This range-topping petrol-powered SUV, which will be available in limited numbers, can be booked online. It gets exclusive features as well as cosmetic updates.
Here’s where it stands in the X1 lineup:
Variant |
Ex-showroom Price |
SportX Petrol |
Rs 38.9 lakh |
xLine Petrol |
Rs 41.3 lakh |
xLine Diesel |
Rs 43 lakh |
Tech Edition Petrol |
Rs 43 lakh |
The Tech Edition commands a Rs 1.7 lakh premium over the standard xLine petrol trim. For the extra dough, the Tech Edition packs bespoke exterior cosmetic updates and additional features.
It sits on larger 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and also gets bigger exhaust tips which the keen-eyed will notice. The rest of the design is pretty much similar to the standard X1.
Inside, the Tech Edition comes with a larger 10.25-inch i-Drive infotainment system (up from 8.8-inches). It also gets additional features, including a 205W 7-speaker sound system, a heads-up display, and a wireless phone charger.
Other notable features in this variant include LED headlamps, wireless Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and powered front seats. Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, electric parking brake with auto hold, electronic stability control, and attention assist.
No changes have been made under the hood, meaning the X1 Tech Edition continues to utilise a 192PS 2-litre petrol engine. It drives the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A 2.0-litre diesel engine is also available, but it’s limited to the xLine trim.
The BMW X1 Tech Edition locks horns with the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volvo XC40. It will also take on the upcoming next-gen Audi Q3.
