BMW’s newest SUV – the BMW X5 Security Plus is all set to keep a check on the security quoitent of the world leaders. Previewed earlier in concept form at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Bavarian carmaker is now ready to explore its new model in full guise at the Moscow Motor Show this year.
This new SUV by BMW complies with the VR6 security level and is designed to meet the highest safety requirements of the passenger. The BMW X5 Security Plus gets an armored passenger cell made from steel structure and panels. This SUV can thus withstand direct shots from rifles such as the AK-47, thereby adhering to the VR6 safety standards. The cell of this new SUV features sealed joints in pivotal areas such as door openings and areas between body panels to ensure further protection against bullet penetration.
The new BMW X5 Security Plus gets an upgraded chassis, brakes and electronic management systems to cope with extra weight and profile of the car. The X5 Security Plus is equipped with BMW’s Intelligent Emergency Call system which helps in sending the exact location of the SUV to the BMW Call Centre in case of crisis.
A 4.4-litre TwinPower turbocharged V8 engine will run under the hood of the BMW X5 Security Plus to deliver 450PS of power and a staggering 650Nm of torque. The Bavarian carmaker hasn’t revealed the performance figures as of now, but the standard X5 xDrive50i can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds before hitting a top-speed of 250kmph.
BMW hasn’t revealed the pricing details as of now, but this surely would be an expensive ride for those in the game of power.
