The concept commemorates 10 years of Bosch e-Bike Systems
  • Bosch presented its first drive system for electric bikes back in 2010.
  • These systems are widely used across e-bikes ranging from step-through to mountain models.
  • The seamless integration of components on the concept aims to inspire future e-bike designs.
  • It features a carbon frame with an ingenious rear suspension, a removable battery, and connected full-colour console.
  • Being active and exercising regularly has proven to have many health benefits, both physically and mentally. The easiest way to keep fit is to eat right, run or cycle, with the latter gaining popularity over the last couple of years. It's affordable, accessible and more importantly, keeps you in good shape. Electric bikes offer the best of both worlds -- ease of use along with the physical benefits of riding a cycle.

Bosch, usually known as the largest supplier of automotive components, plays a pivotal role in the e-bike sector. It first introduced its e-Bike System back in 2010 which laid the foundation for forthcoming electric bicycles. Heck, even the Bajaj Chetak uses a Bosch-developed BLDC motor.

Bosch has now taken the wraps off its e-Bike Design Vision concept which commemorates 10 years of Bosch e-Bike Systems. The concept is based on the idea of seamlessly fusing components to offer a clean design. It aims to inspire e-bike designs which will set the stage for the future.

The Bosch e-Bike Design Vision concept features a minimalistic look with an angular carbon frame and an integrated battery pack rated at 0.62kWh. Goes without saying that the lithium-ion battery pack, also known as the PowerTube, is removable. It takes about 4.9 hours for a full charge and 2.1 hours to achieve 50 per cent of its charge.

The bike draws power from Bosch’s top-of-the-line Performance Line CX motor that has four power modes: Eco, Tour, eMTB and Turbo. The pedal assist will aid the rider for up to 32kmph. The motor is neatly integrated with the frame of the bike in line with the overall theme. It even gets side cooling channels in the frame which keeps heat produced from the motor at bay.

In the same vein, the carbon handlebar is designed to have a clean look. Even the brakes are designed to sit flush with the handlebar design. Having said that, the handlebar which extends into a spatula-type luggage rack at the front looks a bit out of place.

Hop onto the cycle and you’re greeted with a full-colour TFT display integrated into the handlebar with Bosch Nyon connectivity features. Keeping things tidy, all the cables and hydraulic hoses of the brake system are routed from inside the frame. The lighting system comprises a headlight which works as a DRL and two rows of small LED tails lights which are built into the frame.

In terms of hardware, the bike gets a telescopic fork and unique rear suspension that fools you into thinking it’s a hardtail. You have disc brakes at both ends for anchorage and the Bosch e-Bike ABS for additional safety. It sits hidden behind the front luggage rack and fits elegantly into the overall look.
