Benelli’s first power cruiser, the 502 C, will soon be available in India. The bike has been unveiled for the domestic market and will be launched in the last week of July 2021. Interested customers can pre-book the bike for a token of Rs 10,000. It’s expected to command a premium of almost Rs 20,000 over the Benelli Leoncino 500, which starts from Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom India).

The first thing you’d notice is the styling that’s similar to the Ducati Diavel from certain angles. However, it’s not a complete rip-off; the bike does have its own unique personality. Feature-wise, the 502 comes with all-LED lights, a TFT instrument cluster with two display modes, and adjustable footrests.

The engine may seem familiar because it’s the same BS6-compliant 500cc parallel-twin mill that’s available on the Leoncino 500 and the TRK 502 range. Consequently, its power output is the same as well -- 47.5PS at 8500rpm and 46Nm at 6000rpm. The motor uses a 6-speed transmission and a chain drive to send power to the rear wheel.

Its hardware consists of a trellis frame linked to a USD fork and a rear monoshock, with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 120-section front and 160-section rear tyres. For optimum braking prowess, the bike gets twin 280mm front petal discs with radial calipers and a 240mm rear disc with standard dual-channel ABS.

A massive 21.5-litre fuel tank and laidback ergonomics underscore the 502's touring capabilities. Not to mention, it gets a generous 170mm of ground clearance and an accessible 750mm seat.

If Benelli gets the pricing right, the 502 C could be a real game-changer and the most affordable parallel-twin power cruiser in India. The only other alternative in the middleweight segment is the Kawasaki Vulcan S at the moment. However, that will soon change when the Honda Rebel 500 comes along.
