Benelli is once again coming around to producing triple-cylinder motorcycles. The Italian bikemaker has two engine platforms planned with this particular engine configuration. We saw the first new 1,200cc triple on the latest 1200GT unveiled recently at CIMAMotor show. What did catch our attention is the other triple engine: the 900cc unit. The TNT badge, which spells out Tornado Naked Tre, would finally reappear on a triple cylinder motorcycle.

To jog your memories, Benelli used to produce the TNT 899, TNT 1130 and the 1130 Tornado a few years ago. These motorcycles embodied the racy and sporty genes that Benelli built its heritage on. But since its acquisition by China’s Qianjiang Motors, the triples were never taken seriously again until now. The TNTs were sold in India for a brief period when the Indian arm was being operated by DSK. Sadly, the bikes didn’t manage to capture the Indian enthusiast’s attention with their oddball looks and were quite overpriced as well.

With Qianjiang now reviving interest in the triple-cylinder engines for Benelli (as well as for its own brand), we should expect the aforementioned names to make a reappearance. The TNT 899 gets a special mention here as it was particularly highlighted at the unveiling of the 1200GT.
