Earlier this week, Mahindra had teased the BS6 version of the Mojo and now it has released its first official image. As we had predicted, the Mahindra Mojo BS6 is based on the UT 300 variant. This means the bike misses out on USD fork, fuel injection, Pirelli tyres and one exhaust muffler -- all in an effort to be more cost effective. Mahindra hasn’t shared details of the pricing yet, but we expect the Mojo BS6 to retail between Rs 1.75 and 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom).
On the cosmetic front, the new Mahindra Mojo carries forward the same styling. The only visual difference is the rim tape and contrasting red finish on the frame and swingarm. Mahindra has only disclosed two shades till now called Garnet Black and Ruby Red. There are reports that the new bike will be offered in two more colour options. On the features front, the Mojo continues to feature twin halogen headlights, semi-digital instrument console and dual-channel ABS.
The company hasn’t shared engine specs yet, but we expect the power figures to be better than that of the Mojo UT, which was rated at 23PS and 25.2Nm of torque. The 295cc liquid-cooled motor on the Mojo XT produced 28PS and 30Nm. We expect the power figures of the new BS6 engine to be closer to that of the Mojo XT. The bike employs a 6-speed gearbox.
Underpinnings like the frame, suspension components and brakes will be carried forward from the older bike. The Mahindra Mojo BS6 will compete against rivals such as the Bajaj Dominar 250, Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Suzuki Gixxer 250.
