Dutch EV startup Brekr has revealed its first product, the Model B, which it claims will change the face of urban mobility.  At first glance, the moped looks pretty simple and straightforward, but it’s actually quite a complex piece of machinery.

The overall design is simplistic and so is the unique frame which is a combination of a twin-spar and double-cradle frame. Thanks to this, the entire package weighs in at just 75kg which includes the 9kg lithium-ion battery pack.

You'd probably think, the bare-bones design means the company may have skimped on features. But that's not the case. The Model B comes with LED lights and mobile connectivity as standard. Since electrics are known to be dead silent, Brekr has fitted the Model B with two 8W speakers tuned specifically to alert traffic or pedestrians.

Its removable 40.2Ah battery pack made from high-power 18650 cells, promises a range of about 50-80km. But that's if you use the single battery configuration. Throw in the second battery and the range extends up to 160km. They can be fully changed in five hours.

As for the powertrain, the Model B uses a QS hub motor capable of producing 2.5kW of continuous power. Meanwhile, its peak power is rated at 4kW with a torque output of 140Nm. Brekr says the moped can reach a claimed top speed of 45kmph, but can be restricted to 25kmph, if required. Interestingly, the Model B is actually capable of carrying two people, despite its size.

On the hardware side of things, you have a USD fork and dual shock shock setup along with a 220mm disc up front and a 180mm disc at the rear.

As interesting as the Model B is, it doesn't come cheap. At EUR 4,499, (roughly Rs 3.92 lakh), it's more expensive than the on-road price of the KTM 390 Adventure. So don't expect it to grace our shores anytime soon. On a side note, we'll soon have two new e-scooters in the market, the Simple One and Ola Electric Scooter, slated for launch on Sunday 15 August. So stay tuned to ZigWheels.
