The transition to BS6 isn’t just hard on the Indian automotive industry, but also on the hearts and souls of petrolheads. Although it seems like petrol motors could get more love in the BS6 era, Indians have revered their diesel rides for decades. For this reason, we have compiled a list of the most hefty discounts available on BS4 versions of popular sedans from Skoda Auto and Honda:
Honda Civic: Up to Rs 2.5 lakh off
The tenth-generation Honda Civic is a delight for enthusiasts with its low-seating position and multilink rear suspension. All 2019 diesel Civics get a Rs 2.5 lakh discount, while 2020 models get Rs 2 lakh off. There’s also a discount of up to Rs 1.25 lakh on 2019 petrol variants.
Skoda Octavia: Rs 2.4 lakh off
The Octavia is an all-rounder -- it has space for people and luggage, punchy engine options, and features we’ve come to expect from the segment. The 2.0-litre TDI engine made petrolheads out of common folks, and now it’s available with a Rs 2.4 lakh discount for the TDI-equipped L&K variant. All of Skoda’s discounts are valid all the way up to the BS4 deadline.
Skoda Superb: Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh off

It might be a long time before Volkswagen-Skoda’s 2.0-litre TDI engine makes it to India with BS6 updates, so this is your chance to get one. Both petrol and diesel Style AT models get discounts worth Rs 1.8 lakh. The L&K TDI variant gets a discount of up to Rs 2.5 lakh.
Honda City: Rs 72,000 off
Our expectations from the Honda City are set to change next month, but we love the current generation, too. Its stiff chassis and spacious interiors made it an aspirational vehicle. You can get from Rs 45,000 to Rs 72,000 off on a BS6 City, while BS4 models are Rs 62,000 less.
Skoda Rapid: Rs 1.07 lakh to Rs 1.58 lakh off
It might be based on an ageing platform, but the Rapid still looks fresh. We are addicted to its high-speed manners and the diesel’s efficiency. Petrol automatic and most variants of diesel Rapids are discounted at Rs 1.36 lakh and up to Rs 1.58 lakh, respectively.
Deals on sub-4m sedans:
You can get a Maruti Suzuki Dzire petrol for up to Rs 55,000 off, while the DDiS diesel retails for Rs 74,000 less. Honda is offering the Amaze at Rs 42,000 off, while Tata will hand you a Zest with a discount of Rs 85,000. The Tata Tigor diesel also gets a discount of up to Rs 75,000.
