  • Bajaj recently launched the BS6-compliant Avenger 160 and the Avenger Cruise 220. However, the Avenger Street 220 didn’t receive the BS6 update, leading to speculation of it being discontinued. We can now confirm the Avenger Street 220 hasn’t faced the BS6 axe but its launch has been delayed due to the coronavirus lockdown. Dispatch of the bike to dealerships will commence once the lockdown is lifted. According to our sources, the Avenger Street 220 is priced at Rs 1,15,456 (ex-showroom), which is a steep hike of around Rs 11,500 compared to its predecessor.

The Avenger Cruise 220 has been equipped with fuel-injection, a revised ECU system, and a new cat-con to adhere to the BS6 emission norms. We expect the same updates on the Street 220 as well. The Avenger Street 220 BS6 will be powered by the same 220cc engine as seen on its sibling. In the BS6 tune, it churns out 19PS at 8500rpm and 17.55Nm (up by 0.05Nm) at 7000rpm. The 5-speed transmission remains unchanged.

No updates have been made on the styling front and the underpinnings also have been carried forward as it is. The 2020 Bajaj Avenger Street 220 doesn’t have any direct competitor and the only bike that comes close is the Suzuki Intruder.
