As April 2020 and more importantly, the BS6 emission norms finally kick in, Honda has made multiple changes to its model lineup. The carmaker has gone ahead and discontinued the diesel variants of the Civic sedan and the CR-V SUV, as well as the BR-V SUV entirely. However, the carmaker could bring back the diesel engines later in the year with BS6 upgrades. We had earlier reported that the BR-V will be replaced by the HR-V later this year. Here’s all that’s changed in terms of variants:

With the Civic and CR-V diesel variants discontined for the time being, the former is now available in only three trims and the latter in one sole petrol variant. This means that we won't get a 7-seater option and an all-wheel-drivetrain in the CR-V again for now. In the case of the Civic, the 6-speed manual transmission is dropped since the petrol variants are only offered with a CVT transmission. Both models share a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged unit producing 120PS and 300Nm.
The petrol-powered CR-V is a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated unit producing 154PS and 189Nm, paired to a CVT gearbox and 2WD. The Civic petrol variants are powered by a BS6-compliant 1.8-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated mill putting out 141PS and 174Nm. The CR-V rivals the likes of the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. On the other hand, the Civic takes on sedans like the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla, and the Hyundai Elantra.
The Honda BR-V was launched back in May 2016 with prices ranging from Rs 9.53 lakh to Rs 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom) in four variant trims. It was based on the now-discontinued Mobilio MPV and took on the likes of the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta. However, it never managed to strike a chord with Indian buyers.
With the BS6 era officially in full swing, expect more changes to Honda’s model lineup including the launch of the BS6 WR-V facelift later this month. Pre-bookings for the SUV are already being accepted for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
