Ford has recalled select diesel variants of the Ecosport, Figo, Freestyle and Aspire models manufactured from January 1, 2020 to June 9, 2021. The models mentioned above got their BS6 upgrades in January and February 2020, which means all the BS6 diesel cars have been affected.
A total of 31,818 units have been affected till date, including the Ford Ecosport and Figo’s Ambiente diesel-manual variant and all the variants of the Aspire and Freestyle.
The issue with these vehicles was that some of them, after a certain period of use, would emit higher emissions from the exhaust tail pipe when tested during in-service test as per BSVI test procedures. However, there should be no safety concerns with respect to vehicle function or drivability.
