BS6 diesel Civic set for July launch.
The diesel engine should produce the same 120PS and 300Nm paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The 1.8-litre petrol engine was already BS6 ready from day one.
After six years of absence from the Indian market, the Honda Civic returned in March 2019. Launched with a BS6-compliant petrol engine, the BS4 diesel variant was expected to follow suit. Honda has begun pre-launch bookings for the BS6 Honda Civic diesel set for launch in July 2020. Bookings can be made via Honda’s online sales platform or at any authorized dealership.
The Honda Civic diesel is powered by a 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbocharged engine which produces 120PS and 300Nm. The figures are expected to remain the same after the BS6 upgrade. The Civic diesel will continue being mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
After the axing of the BS4 diesel engine the Civic was available with a BS6-compliant 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine producing 141PS and 174Nm. The petrol-only offering was mated to a CVT driving the front wheels as the standalone pairing.

The Civic comes with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other features include dual-zone climate control, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and engine remote start. The sportier side of things boast paddle shifters and a sport mode.
With its debut in March 2019, the Civic matched the anticipation with decent sales figures, putting up a competent rivalry with the Skoda Octavia. The Honda Civic locks horns with the Hyundai Elantra for now as the new-gen Octavia is expected later this year. Naturally, expect it to be priced more than the BS4 Civic diesel, which was priced from Rs 20.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
