After a year’s hiatus, Isuzu will launch the BS6-compliant D-Max V-Cross in the coming weeks. Select outlets across have commenced bookings and the pickup truck has started reaching dealerships. In today’s report, we’ll be focussing on the V-Cross’ engine specifications and variant-wise features list, which has been leaked online.
V-Cross Variants
The BS6-compliant D-Max V-Cross will be offered in two variants: Z and Z Prestige. The standard ‘Base’ variant has been done away for good. Also, lower variants, which will come only with rear-wheel drive and a spartan cabin, will be christened the D-Max Hi-Lander.
Coming back to the V-Cross, the base-spec Z nearly ticks all the boxes, with equipment like:
Bi-LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs.
Keyless entry with push button start.
Six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat.
Automatic climate control.
7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Six-speaker sound system.
Rear parking sensors with camera.
Dual airbags.
ABS with EBD.

V-Cross Engine Specifications
Under the hood, the D-Max V-Cross will continue to utilize the 1.9-litre diesel engine, albeit with upgrades to meet BS6 emission standards. But this BS6 engine, which develops 163PS of power and 360Nm of torque, is 13PS and 10Nm more powerful than the BS4 version. The larger 2.5-litre diesel engine has been given the axe.
A 6-speed automatic transmission will be offered as standard in the V-Cross, with only the top-spec Z Prestige getting a four-wheel drive system. The base Z will only drive the rear wheels. Also, those of you looking for a manual D-Max will have no choice but to consider the D-Max Hi-Lander.
V-Cross Colours

No changes have been made to the colour palettes of the V-Cross. You can choose from seven options: Cosmic Black, Splash White, Titanium Silver, Silky White Pearl, Spinal Red, Sapphire Blue, and Galena Grey.
D-Max V-Cross Launch Timeline And Price
As per our sources, the D-Max V-Cross was set to launch by the end of April. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic playing havoc in the country, Isuzu has tentatively said it will launch the updated pickup by the second week of May. Also, the BS6 upgrades could push the prices of the truck by around a lakh over the BS4 model (Rs 16.55 lakh onwards).
The D-Max V-Cross doesn’t have any direct rivals in the country. But if off-road cred matters, you should consider the Mahindra Thar that has been quite the popular off-roader in the country so far.
