The BS6-compliant Isuzu D-Max V-Cross pickup truck has been spotted testing ahead of its April launch. It’s coming back almost a year after it was discontinued due to the BS6 emission standards. Unlike before, the D-Max V-Cross could be offered only with one diesel engine, rather than two, with the 2.5-litre motor expected to be discontinued.
The 1.9-litre diesel motor is likely to be the sole engine on offer. In the BS4 era, this engine developed 150 horses and 350Nm of torque. We expect the same numbers in the BS6 era. Along with a 6-speed automatic transmission, it could come with a new 6-speed manual transmission.
Apart from the engine update, no other changes will be made to the D-Max V-Cross. It should continue to feature a touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, climate control, front and rear LED lighting, keyless entry with push-button start, and electrically adjustable driver seat. Safety should be covered by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control, and rear parking sensors.

According to our dealer sources, the BS6-compliant D-Max V-Cross may be pricier than the BS4 model by Rs 1 lakh. It was priced between Rs 16.55 lakh and Rs 19.99 lakh before facing the axe. It doesn’t have any direct rivals, but in terms of off-road cred, you could look at the Mahindra Thar as an alternative.
