Six months after Triumph launched the Street Scrambler Sandstorm and Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition in India, the British marque is gearing up to bring the standard version of the 900cc scrambler. The Sandstorm Edition is priced at Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom), so expect the standard Street Scrambler to be priced lower.
Earlier this year, the Euro5/BS6-compliant Triumph Street Scrambler 900 made its global debut. The bike now features LED illumination, a new aluminium number board, brushed aluminium headlight brackets, and a new heel guard. Triumph has also upgraded the seat with a mix of leather and textile.
The Triumph Street Scrambler 900 is powered by the same 900cc parallel-twin, and despite its transition to BS6, hasn’t lost out on performance. It continues to develop 65PS and 80Nm, with most of its torque available from as low as 3200rpm.
Complementing this torquey engine is the equally capable hardware. A 41mm telescopic fork and dual shocks, both offering 120mm travel, take care of the suspension, while a 310mm/255mm disc brake setup with dual-channel ABS drops the anchor. Other electronic aids include traction control and three riding modes.
The Triumph Street Scrambler 900 retailed at Rs 8.55 lakh, and we expect the updated model to carry a price tag of Rs 9 lakh (both ex-showroom). Once launched, the Street Scrambler will lock horns with the Ducati Scrambler 800 range, which starts Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
