Self-drive car rental company, ZoomCar, has extended its operations in Mumbai and Chennai. The Bangalore-based company is offering a range of cars in Mumbai which include the Ford Figo, Honda City, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra Scorpio and XUV500. In Chennai, the Honda Amaze is added to the list.
ZoomCar has been operational in Bengaluru, Delhi and Pune since its launch in 2013. The company now wants to enter other big and small cities in the coming year. The self-drive car rental company also plans to triple its fleet of cars in the country from 1,000 to 3,000 units.
An interested customer can rent a car on an hourly, monthly or daily basis by booking it on to the company’s official website. The car hiring charges range from Rs 80 per hour for a Ford Figo to Rs 140 per hour for a Mahindra XUV500. The price covers a travel distance of 10km for every hour of hire with an additional charge of Rs 12-15 per km depending on the vehicle. There is also a refundable deposit of Rs 5,000.
The car hiring charges include the fuel charges, insurance and other taxes. Payment is cashless and can only be made by debit or credit cards. One can drive a car hired from this car rental company anywhere in the country as the cars have an All-India Permit.
ZoomCar states that there would be a 20 per cent difference in cost when a car is booked during weekdays compared to weekends. It is providing a 30 per cent discount launch offer on new signups in Chennai.
