The all-new scrambler is offered in three variants: Adventure, Sport and Heritage

  • The 700CL-X is the first scrambler from the Chinese bike maker.
  • It is powered by a 700cc parallel-twin motor.
  • CFMoto has confirmed that they could bring it to India by mid-2020.

CFMoto showcased an all-new motorcycle at the 2019 EICMA, which took us by surprise. No, it’s not the mental 1,000cc V-twin monster, instead it’s a new scrambler called the 700CL-X. The good news here is that the new scrambler will be available in India as well once the new emission norms kick in!

Back in June, patent images of the motorcycle surfaced online, which gave us an idea of what we could expect from the new motorcycle. There are three variants on offer: Adventure, Sport and Heritage. In terms of features, all three variants get LED lights at the front and back, an LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and cruise control. The Heritage variant features a wide tan leather seat, dual-tone paint job, alloy wheels and Pirelli MT-60 tyres. Moreover, it gets wide handlebars coupled with mid-set footpegs that should offer a comfortable riding position.

However, scramblers are also meant to be ridden on off-road tracks, right? For that, the Chinese bike maker has the Adventure variant, which comes equipped with knobby tyres, raised handlebars and a different seat. Additionally, it seems like CFMoto is also planning to throw in some accessories such as panniers and a bigger windscreen.

Lastly, the Sport variant. This features a single-tone paint scheme, lower-set clip-ons and a revised seat setup compared to the other variants. It also gets Pirelli Diablo Rosso Super Corsas as well! In terms of features, all three variants get LED lights at the front and back, an LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and cruise control.

Powering the motorcycle is a 692.2cc parallel-twin motor that belts out 75PS of power and 66.6Nm of torque, which is 5PS and 6Nm more than the 650MT, making it the most powerful CFMoto on sale. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. While the USD fork on the Sport variant seems to be similar to that of the 650MT, the other two variants come equipped with a new set of USD forks. Braking hardware consists of disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS offered as standard.

As far as its India launch is concerned, CFMoto's Indian arm has said it might bring the 700CL-X to our shores by mid-2020. As we have seen in the past, CFMoto might price these new motorcycles quite aggressively in order to gain more traction in the Indian two-wheeler segment and we expect the 700CL-X to be priced at around Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it will sit right between the Benelli Leoncino and the entry-level Ducati Scrambler!
