Chevrolet’s star attraction in their 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show lineup was the comeback of the Trailblazer SUV in the US after more than 10 years. The Trailblazer is essentially a mini Blazer that slots in between the Trax and Equinox in Chevy’s SUV lineup.
On the outside, the Trailblazer takes various styling cues from its larger sibling, for instance, it gets the signature dual-port grille. The grille also features variations with a bigger opening in the ACTIV trim as well as a mesh grille with front-splitters in the RS trim. Other exterior highlights include wraparound tail lights and standard two-tone roofs.
Going inside, the Trailblazer features a driver-focused dual-cockpit design alongside an integrated center stack. The center console also boasts practicality with 3.5-litres of open storage, 4.4-litre storage capacity under the armrest and dual cup holders. Other interior bits include the latest Chevrolet infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as 40/60 split folding second-row seats.
The Trailblazer is also equipped with standard safety kit like forward-collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning and a rear-view camera. The optional kit includes adaptive cruise control, rear parking assist, blind spot monitoring and a HD rear-view camera.
Under the hood, the Trailblazer is powered by 1.2L turbo and 1.3L turbo engine, with the 1.3-litre mill delivering up to 155PS of power. Both engines are mated to a CVT transmission and front-wheel drive as standard. However, those that chose the 1.3-litre motor with AWD will get a 9-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive trims get Normal, Snow and Sport driving modes.
Chevy’s baby Blazer is set to arrive in US dealerships by 2020 with a claimed starting price of USD 20,000 (Rs 14.35 lakh). While the Trailblazer has been discontinued in India, we can hope this revived Trailblazer makes a comeback here.
