Chevrolet Beat gets minor updates for 2016

In a bid to give a fresh appeal to its most popular hatchback, Chevrolet has given minor updates to the Beat. The American car maker today announced the launch of the 2016 Beat which has been priced between Rs 4.28 lakh to Rs 5.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). 

The 2016 Beat gets some additional features including remote keyless entry with foldable key, body coloured door handles, and two new exterior colours. On the inside, the Beat now comes fitted with a driver side airbag to the LT variant and silver interior highlights on lower trims too. The Beat also comes with a new silver interior and height-adjustable driver’s seat for added comfort. 

Hardeep Brar, Vice President – Sales, General Motors India said, “We are confident that the 2016 Beat with new features and appealing design enhancements will further strengthen our position in the marketplace. The new version was developed by carefully listening to our customers and enhancing it with smart new features and stylish looks.”

Underneath the skin, the Beat continues to sport the same powerplants. It gets a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol unit that makes 77.9PS of power and 106.5Nm of torque. The diesel on the other hand is a 936cc three-cylinder unit that is good for 57.1PS and 142.5Nm. Both engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. For the Beat, Chevrolet claims an efficiency of 25.44kmpl for the diesel and 18.6kmpl for the petrol. 

Chevrolet has been smart to give the Beat some updates right at the beginning of the year. However, with the new-generation Beat already on sale in the American market, it comes as quite a surprise that they haven’t got it here knowing that it is Chevrolet’s best-selling product.
