When Chevrolet launched the Sail on February 1, 2013 with prices starting at an attractive Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it was clear that the Sail had a lot going for it in the entry-level sedan market.
Two months later, the American car maker has put up an advertisement that the Sail has racked up 7,000 bookings since its launch. In the current market scenario, 7,000 units in two months is an incredible figure.
As of now, the Chevy Sail’s biggest rival is the Swift DZire. But the Sail offers more value than the DZire with its bigger size and is available in more variants than the DZire too. Also Read: Chevrolet Sail Competition Check
However, come April 11, 2013, the Chevrolet Sail will have to face a new, formidable rival, the Honda Amaze. Honda is betting big on the Amaze in India partly because it too slots into the lucrative sub-four-meter sedan segment and, more importantly, because the Amaze will be the Japanese car maker’s first diesel car in India.
With so much resting on the new Amaze, Honda would be looking to price the sedan rather attractively against its competitors.
The Chevrolet Sail is available with a total of eight variants on offer with prices ranging between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 7.52 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
While the Honda Amaze is yet to be launched, the company has already started taking bookings for the car with a 30-day delivery period. The booking amount has been fixed at Rs 21,000 for the Brio-based sedan and is entirely refundable.
