BSIV-only compliance in metropolitans and urban cities has mandated that car-makers market their BSIII products only in tier II cities and rural markets. After rolling out the BSIII version of Tavera Neo 3 in February 2012, Chevrolet India has launched the BSIV version of the MPV starting at a price of Rs.7.51 lakh for the base version, going all the way up to Rs. 10.34 lakh, (both ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-end LT version. The ARAI claimed mileage of the BSIV car is 12.2 kmpl.
The car now gets a two-litre, four-cylinder, common-rail diesel engine that produces maximum power of 106.8PS @ 4,000rpm with peak torque of 263.7Nm @ 2,500rpm and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The updated MPV comes in four variants – standard, Max, LS and LT.
"GM engineers carried out an extensive upgrade of the popular Tavera based on customer feedback. It demonstrates GM India's commitment to listening to our customers and continuously upgrading the products," said Lowell Paddock, GM India President and Managing Director.
Targeted at premium MPV buyers, the top-end model comes with refreshed dual-tone front and rear bumpers, side body graphics, new alloy wheels, aluminium side step, a revised front grille, new clear lens headlamps, fog lamps, chrome inserts on door handles and a number of design changes that lend the car a fresh new look.
The interior has also been revamped to give it a more upmarket feel with dual-tone beige and grey finish, and a new instrument cluster. The Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 will compete against the Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ertiga due to be launched in April 2012.
