Earlier, we had reported that Skoda India will launch the facelifted Superb in the Indian market in April 2020. If you’ve been eagerly waiting for the upcoming premium sedan, we’ve got some bad news for you. The Czech manufacturer has deferred the launch of the facelifted Superb due to the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus.

As per a tweet by Zac Hollis, Director of Sales and Marketing, Skoda Auto India, the company will launch the facelifted Superb as soon as the nationwide lockdown has been lifted. Currently, the nation is under complete lockdown until May 3, but it could be extended further if required. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that the facelifted Superb could hit showrooms by May-end or early-June.

The major change for the facelifted Superb is under the hood. It’ll be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that develops 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Power is directed to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG only. No, there won’t be a Superb diesel, at least in the initial phase of the BS6 era.
