Over a week ago, Los Angeles-based startup Czinger Vehicles previewed its upcoming 21C Hypercar with a teaser video, revealing some performance figures. And now, the carmaker has officially revealed the hybrid hypercar. The 21C will be offered in both road-spec and track-spec guise. Here’s all about it:

The main talking point of the 21C is what’s under the hood. It is powered by an in-house developed 2.88-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with a flat-plane crank, which is aided by three electric motors. Two of them sit on the front axle and power the front wheels while the third is mated to the V8 and acts as a generator to charge the car’s lithium-titanate batteries. This setup makes for a combined output of 1250PS wit a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. Paired to a 7-speed sequential gearbox, the V8, as well as the electric motors, give the 21C a 0-100kmph sprint time of just 1.9 seconds. What’s more, the carmaker claims a 0-400-0kmph time of 29 seconds, making it quite a bit faster than the current record holder, the Koenigsegg Regera (31.49 seconds), on paper.

The road and track-spec variants of the 21C sport a variety of performance differences. The road-spec car is heavier (1,250kg) than the track-spec (1,218kg) version. The road-going variant is also faster in a straight line with a top speed of 432kmph, compared to 380kmph in the track-spec variant. The reason for this is simple, downforce. While the standard 21C produces downforce figures of 250kg+ @250kmph, the track variant generates a whooping 790kg+ @250kmph, which clearly explains the huge difference in top speed.

On the outside, the 21C sports a sleek and clean silhouette with bits like massive wheel arches, a large rear wing, connected LED tail lamp strip, a centre mounted exhaust and an aggressive diffuser. The interiors are yet to be revealed, but Czinger has given a glimpse of it, revealing a driver-focused tandem-style two-seater configuration.

Only 80 examples of the 21C will be produced, so expect a sky-high price tag once it goes on sale.
