Does the name Dao EV Tech ring a bell? The Chinese brand first announced its entry in India at the 2019 Electric Vehicle Technology Expo and aspired to begin pan-India operations by mid-2020. The pandemic may have played a spoilsport in the EV company’s strategy, but it seems things are back on track. Dao has just launched four e-scooters: 703, Vidyut 106, Vidyut 108 and Zor 405, a B2B fleet e-scooter. Though the e-scooters have been launched, the prices haven’t been revealed yet.
The Powertrain
The Dao 703 is the flagship product from the manufacturer and uses a 72V 30Ah LFP Li-ion battery that gives a claimed range of 100km. The battery pack is paired with a 3.5kW BLDC hub motor that can propel the e-scooter to a top speed of 70kmph.
The Vidyut 106, Vidyut 108 and the Zor 405 are powered by a 60V 23Ah LFP Li-ion battery pack with a claimed range of upto 80km. All the three scooters employ a 250watt BLDC hub motor with a top speed of 25kmph. So, one doesn’t require a license to ride these e-scooters.
Surprisingly, the motors on all the scooters are IP57 certified. This translates to water resistance of upto 1m and limited dust protection. The latter is bound to compromise the motor’s functionality eventually, considering our dusty conditions.
The Underpinnings
Dao EV Tech’s e-scooters feature disc brakes at both ends. Suspension duties on all the products are handled by telescopic fork and dual shocks. The Zor 405 is the only electric scooter of the lot that gets two pairs of rear shock absorbers to carry more weight.
The Features
From LED headlights, LCD consoles and reverse functionality to cruise control, keyless ignition and Intelligent Release System to prevent accidental acceleration, the Dao e-scooters are feature-loaded.
The Dao Zor 405 goes a step further, with a multifunctional rear seat that doubles up as a carrier when opened. Given its intended purpose, it also boasts of a payload capacity of 200kg, while its siblings can carry 150kg.
Who Is Dao EV Tech?
Dao EV Tech has set up its manufacturing plant in Hyderabad and will soon set up showrooms across the country. Originally a Chinese brand, it also has a team from the USA to overlook the service and other aspects of the company.
Where Can You Buy One?
The Dao Ev Tech e-scooters will be available in a phased manner, starting from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. At the moment, the company has not divulged any details on the pricing or availability, however, the e-scooters will lock horns with products from BGauss, Ampere, Hero Electric and Okinawa.
