Datsun Go plus will come with airbags

The Datsun Go was in the news a few months ago as it scored a zero in the Euro NCAP crash test ratings. The furore that followed included an official statement from the FIA which directed the Datsun Go in the current state of construction off the roads and stop production entirely till the car could be improved. Although there was no official communication from Datsun about the issue, they have officially released a statement stating that the Go and Go Plus would get drivers airbags very soon.

The Datsun Go Plus launched at Rs 3.79 lakh will be the first to get airbags as a part of the T variant soon. Although Datsun has officially launched the version, it will only be available in the second half of 2015 to customers. Not only will this improve the crash safety ratings of the Datsun Go Plus Euro NCAP for crash safety tests, it will also give future customers some peace of mind in case of any unforeseen incidents. The addition of airbags to this particular car that has been tagged as a Compact Family Wagon will be even more important since the Go Plus could be the vehicle of choice for a lot of families looking for more space.

Datsun GO will come with airbags

The Datsun Go hatchback too will soon get a drivers airbag. The addition of the airbag will also directly affect NCAP crash results in case the car is tested again. Expect the hatchback to get the airbags by the end of 2015. The Datsuns will need airbags eventually in any case once CMVR or Central Motor Vehicle Regulations make crash tests a part of mandatory pre-launch testing from 2017-2018.

Apart from the fact that Datsun are adding airbags in their offerings, they should also work towards giving better tyres on both the Go hatchback and the Go Plus. In fact, since tyres are the only point of contact with the road and directly affect crucial elements like braking and handling, changing the Strada branded ones to a set of grippier tyres, which would go a long way in making both cars much better to drive.
