Cosmetically-enhanced hatchback and MPV priced at Rs 4.21 lakh and Rs 4.99 lakh, respectively

Datsun launched the Remix Edition of its GO hatchback and GO+ MPV at Rs 4.21 lakh and Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. Both the limited-run hatchback and the MPV feature exterior and interior cosmetic updates and command a premium of Rs 9,000 and Rs 6,000 over their respective top-spec T variants. And most importantly, Datsun has already begun accepting bookings for both.

The GO Remix Edition comes in two colour options - black with orange decals or a monotone white. The GO+ Remix Edition, on the other hand, can be had in either dual-tone white with a black bonnet and roof wrap with orange decals or a dual-tone silver. Apart from this, both cars feature a black grille, chrome bezels on the front bumper, a rear spoiler, a chrome-finished exhaust along with black wheel covers.

On the inside, both cars feature a piano black-finish for the centre console and new seat covers with orange inserts. As they are based on the T variants, both cars get features such as an electric power steering, a manual AC, front power windows, central locking, follow-me-home headlamps and a hands-free Bluetooth audio system with Aux-in and a USB port.

The GO and GO+ Remix Editions remain mechanically unchanged. That means they continue to share a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It puts out 68PS of power and 104Nm of peak torque and has an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency figure of 20.6kmpl.

While the GO rivals the likes of the Maruti Alto K10, Hyundai Eon, the Tata Tiago, Renault Kiwd 1.0L and the Datsun Redi-GO 1.0, the GO+ MPV doesn’t have a direct rival as there is no other MPV in this price range that offers 7 seats.

Datsun is likely to launch a crossover based on the GO+ MPV this year. Called the Cross, the more rugged version of the MPV was unveiled in Indonesia recently. Although we expect it to compete against the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X and the Mahindra KUV 100 NXT in the Indian market, the top-spec variant could go up against the base variants of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport facelift too. Watch this space for more details about the 7-seat crossover.
