Datsun has announced prices for the two-pedal version of the redi-GO. The AMT is available in the top two variants - T (O) and S - that are priced at Rs 3.80 lakh and Rs 3.95 lakh, respectively. Deliveries for the hatchback have commenced across Datsun dealerships.
The automatic version is dearer by Rs 22,000, which makes it a sweet deal in our books. The redi-GO is powered by the same 1.0-litre engine that does duty in the Kwid. The motor makes 68PS of power and 91Nm of torque, which seems plenty for the little city car. What's appreciable is the fact that Datsun have provided a creep mode for the AMT. This means you do not have to feather the throttle to get going. Simply lifting off the brake lets the redi-GO crawl forward. There's a manual mode that lets you have a greater degree of control as well. Notably, both these features are missing from the redi-GO's counterpart - the Kwid.
On the features front, the automatic redi-GO isn't all that different when compared to its manual counterpart. It continues to get bare-basic features such as front two power windows, and a Bluetooth-enabled music system. Other highlights on the feature list include daytime running lamps (DRLs) and a driver-side airbag.
The pricing makes the redi-GO the most affordable automatic hatchback in the segment. For reference, the Kwid 1.0L AMT costs Rs 3.88 lakh - Rs 4.34 lakh; whereas the Alto K10 AGS costs Rs 4.18 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
