Delhi Auto Expo 2012: BMW India showcase

If any premium car maker is trying to beef up its model line up for India its BMW. As a result anyone walking into the Delhi Auto Expo 2012 must check out the BMW stall. For the upcoming Auto Expo, BMW will most likely be showcasing the 1 Series hatchback and the new BMW 3 Series sedan.

 
After launching the budget luxury SAV, the X1 BMW might just launch their 1 Series premium luxury hatchback here in India. Also, considering that BMW is bringing the MINI brand to India next year it is likely that they will showcase the 1 Series at the Expo.

The second generation BMW 1 Series is a five door hatchback with a new 1.6 litre petrol engine, there is also a revamped 2.0 litre diesel engine. Should the 1 Series BMW make it to India it will become the cheapest BMW on the market which means the car will rack up healthy sales figures due to the snob badge.

BMW may also showcase their new 3 Series sedan unveiled earlier this year. The car is bound to replace the current 3 Series sedan. The new car is lighter, quicker under most conditions, more fuel efficient, better handler thanks to enhanced agility and nimbleness. Customers will also be able to choose between a wider choice of trim levels that the new car can be tailored with. Judging by the sales figures of the 3 Series in India it is highly likely that BMW will showcase the new 320d sedan at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.

As far as entry level luxury sedans go the BMW 3 Series with its rear wheel drive layout and racing pedigree has always been the best driver’s cars amongst its competitors.
