2011 has been an explosive year for all us enthusiasts with loads of action on the big screen. Fast five was probably just the start. And with Ryan Gosling's 'Drive' up for release by September and Nicholas Cage starrer Drive Angry, you are sure to see some more cars in a whole lot of action. Zigwheels gets you behind the wheels they drive.

In his day job, driver (Ryan Gosling) is a Hollywood stunt performer, but, by night is a hired wheelman for getaways in heists. Things really get messed up when a contract has been put for him after a robbery gone wrong. Besides the BMWs in the movie, here are a couple of cars that burn rubber in style

2010 Chrysler 300
The big baby comes with a 6.1 liter Hemi V8 SRT, using a multi-displacement system which can make the engine run on four cylinders out of eight when required. The beauty of this engine is that it uses a pushrod induction tube which pumped air into the engine using a pushrod making it quicker off a standstill. The top of the line V8 has a top speed of 165 miles per hour and a zero to 100 kilometers to an hour figure in just five seconds and 425 bhp of power with 568 Nm of torque. No doubt its mean. Very mean.

2009 Ford Mustang GT

Whoever does not know about the Ford Mustang and calls himself an enthusiast has surely been living under a rock. The jewel of Ford Motor Corporation’s crown, the 2009 version sported a 4.6 liter single overhead cam that churned out 300 horsepower and an optional five speed automatic. The best part about this car is the legend behind the making the car.

Chevrolet Nova

The top of the Chevy line of its time, this car had a 3.8 liter, six cylinder, inline engine, which is truly massive for its size. The race ready coupe SS is the best fit for this movie. Powered by a 170 horsepower engine, it has a short sequence at the end of which it has an untimely end. Rest In Peace Nova.

In a small sequence the Mustang is driving backwards on the freeway with the Chrysler closely chasing it.

As for Drive Angry, which released in US late in February, the plot revolves around  John Milton (Nicholas Cage) who is up against the clock. Jonah King (Billy Burke) is the leader of a gang and has murdered Milton’s daughter and kidnapped her baby. In three days, King and his followers will sacrifice the child at midnight. Milton picks up the trail in Oklahoma as well as rescuing a waitress named Piper from her brutal, two-timing fiancé. There are odd things about Milton. His driver's license is out of date and he has a very strange gun. But, as for his wheels, here is three of the most gorgeous and most mad max of cars ever made.

1964 Buick Riviera

The first generation Riviera had a unique bodyshell like no other Buick in production. Back in the day, it was considered as the best roadable American cars. Powered by 6.6 liter V8 engine, the mad max of its times made a good 325 + horsepower figure. To add to this, the Riviera’s suspension had double wishbones in the front and a live axle located by trailing arms and a lateral track bar. The roll centers were raised to reduce body lean. A true classic is what we say.

1969 Dodge Charger

Every boy’s dream would have him driving the Charger through an open road. Even in today’s time, this car is capable of doing wheelies with ease. The true American muscle has a 7.0 liter and only 468 Dodge Chargers were built using this engine. The engine was nicknamed the elephant and was used in different cars in late 1960s.

1971 Chevrolet Chevelle 454SS

Another classic of its times, the Chevelle SS is still used for street racing. Powered by V8 which made close to 300 horsepower, there was no stopping this mammoth. However, due to lower emission norms, the cork on the Chevelle SS was put in 1972.

Not comparing the two movies, however, both of them are expected to turn out good and hopefully make it to the enthusiasts’ collection.
