Ducati Panigale V2 - First Ride Review

Ducati launched the Final Edition 1299 Panigale R at the eighth round of the World Superbike Championship on July 8, 2017, at Laguna Seca, California, USA. A couple of days after the bike was introduced internationally, Ducati has now launched the bike in India for Rs 59.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune) while the on-road price of the bike goes up to Rs 74.80 lakh in the city. Dealers have started taking bookings and enthusiasts can book the bike by paying a token amount of Rs 5 lakh. The bike will be ordered from Ducati’s factory in Italy once the booking is done. The bike will be delivered within 30-40 days after the order is placed. The new tri-colour livery is inspired by the Italian flag and each unit of the motorcycle will be numbered.
The motorcycle is powered by a 1285cc L-twin engine which develops 209PS @ 11,000rpm and a peak torque of 142Nm @ 9000rpm. The bike is constructed on a monocoque aluminium chassis. Suspension duties are handled by Öhlins NIX30 43mm fully adjustable USD forks with TiN treatment and 120mm wheel travel at the front and fully adjustable Öhlins TTX36 aluminium single-sided swingarm with adjustable linkage and 130mm wheel travel at the rear. Braking is done by two 330mm semi-floating discs with radially mounted Brembo Monobloc four-piston callipers at the front and a 245mm disc with two-piston callipers at the rear. Cornering ABS is offered as standard. The motorcycle is shod with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP 120/70 R17 and 200/55 R17 tyres at the front and rear, respectively. It weighs 168kg.
The 1299 gets top of the line features like 6-axis Inertia measurement Unit (IMU), riding modes, power modes, and other electronic wizardry like Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control EVO (DWC EVO), Ducati Slide Control (DSC), Engine Brake Control (EBC), Ducati Power Launch (DPL), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) and Ducati Data Analyser + (DDA+). The 1299 Panigale R gets titanium connecting rods and valves, balanced crankshaft, lithium-ion battery, auxiliary adjustment buttons, forged Marchesini aluminium wheels and Akrapovic exhaust.
