Ducati has launched both the standard Diavel 1260 and the S variant as well!
  • Like the Multistrada 1260, the Diavel 1260 gets a bigger motor.
  • It gets new IMU-based electronics rider aids as well.
  • The S variant gets premium suspension and a quickshifter among other goodies.
  • Ducati has launched the Diavel 1260 in the country starting at Rs 17.70 lakh for the standard variant. The Diavel 1260 S costs Rs 19.25 lakh, which is Rs 1.55 lakh dearer than the standard model. Both prices are ex-showroom, pan-India. Bookings are open from today across all Ducati dealerships in the country. The standard model is available in grey colour whereas the S variant comes in either grey or black. Compared to its predecessor, the Diavel 1260 is more expensive by Rs 1.55 lakh.

The Diavel is quite popular for offering the best of both worlds: cruiser stance and superbike-level performance in one beautifully designed package. And now with the Diavel 1260, the Italian brand has taken its dynamics up to a whole new level! How exactly?

To begin with, the Ducati Diavel 1260 borrows the bigger 1262cc L-twin engine with Desmodromic variable valve timing from the XDiavel. This powerplant makes 159PS at 9500rpm and 129Nm at 7500rpm. The boffins at Ducati have tuned the engine to improve the bottom-end grunt considerably. In fact, it offers over 100Nm of torque right from 3500rpm onwards! All that power and torque is sent to the rear wheel via a chain drive mated to a 6-speed hydraulically-actuated transmission with slipper clutch.

Ducati offers a host of electronic rider aids to keep the rubber side down. This includes Sport, Touring & Urban riding modes, 8-level traction control, 8-level wheelie control, Ducati Power Launch Evo and cornering ABS. In addition, Ducati also offers cruise control as standard, which should make munching miles on the highways effortless.

The steel trellis frame is new, and is suspended on 50mm inverted fork (fully adjustable) and a monoshock (preload & rebound adjustable). Brakes include dual 320mm discs with Brembo M4.32 radial calipers up front and a 265mm disc with Brembo floating caliper at the rear. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with fat 120-section front and 240-section rear Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres.

The Ducati Diavel S variant features a bidirectional quickshifter, more premium seats, fully-adjustable Ohlins inverted fork and monoshock combo, Brembo monobloc M50 radial calipers up front, machined alloy wheels, and Ducati Multimedia System which can pair with your smartphone. As far as competition is concerned, the only rival for the Ducati Diavel 1260 is the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob.
