Ducati has launched the Multistrada 950 S in India. The higher specced S version comes with Ducati’s Skyhook EVO semi-active suspension, LED headlamps with cornering function, fully customisable riding modes, Vehicle Hold Control, and 5-inch instrument console with Ducati Multimedia System. It is powered by a BS6 compliant 937cc, Testastretta L-Twin motor that delivers 113PS and 96Nm. It even gets six-axis IMU based electronic aids like lean-sensitive traction control and cornering ABS. However the new Multistrada 950 S now costs Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom) making it the priciest motorcycle in its category. If you have that kind of moolah, here are some other ways you can fulfil your motorcycle nirvana:
BMW R 1250 R (Rs 15.95 lakh)
This Bavarian roadster packs in a 1254cc boxer twin motor that delivers a healthy 136PS and 143Nm. So besides performance, you also get the unique feeling of riding a smooth boxer motor. Like the R 1250 GS, it gets a 6.5 colour TFT screen with connectivity options like calls, music and navigation. It also gets electronically adjustable rear suspension. It might not be as versatile friendly as the Multistrada but offers a unique riding experience associated with larger capacity boxer motors.
Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro (Rs 15.50 lakh)
For around the same price as the Multistrada, you can get the more hardcore Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro. The new motorcycle is more capable than its predecessor and is easier to ride over the hard stuff as well. While you do not get the semi-active suspension, the Tiger 900 has more hardcore Showa adjustable suspension and spoke wheels with tubeless tyres. Its 888cc in-line triple delivers 95PS and 87Nm and gets 6 riding modes. When it comes to capability, the Tiger 900 is the better all rounder.
Ducati Panigale V2 (Rs 16.99 lakh)
If you want a sexier, faster Italian, the Panigale V2 is a fantastic option. While it might not be as versatile or comfortable as the Multistrada, the Panigale V2 is more fun on the race track and twisty roads. It offers more performance as well. Its 955cc V-win motor delivers 155PS and 104Nm. While the Panigale V2 looks hotter and is quicker than the Multistrada V2, you won't enjoy it as a daily rider owing to its committed ergonomics.
Harley Davidson Low Rider S (Rs 14.69 lakh)
After Harley Davidson discontinued the Fat Bob in India, the Low Rider S remains the only performance motorcycle you can buy from its Softail lineup. It packs a 1868cc V-twin motor that puts out 155Nm of torque! Besides smoking the rear wheel every time you turn the throttle, the Low Rider S offers dynamic handling thanks to fat upside down forks from the Fat Bob and a dual front disc setup for better braking. The Low Rider S is a good option if you like Harleys that handle.
