Eicher Trucks & Buses has recently introduced their new Rear Engine Semi Low Floor (RESLF) City Buses on our roads. The first batch of ten buses has been handed over to Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC). GSRTC has placed an order for 20 buses and this shows the confidence of the appropriate authorities in the new Eicher city bus.
"We are thankful to the Gujarat State Government, especially the Management of GSRTC for reposing confidence in us and giving us the opportunity to partner in the growth of the state’s infrastructure" said Mr. G Sekar Senior Vice President (Sales & Marketing), Eicher Trucks & Buses.
The prototype of the bus was first showcased at the 2010 Auto Expo. The (RESLF) City Bus has been developed in conformation with the JnNURM guidelines stated by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.
The new buses were designed to be more comfortable and accommodating than the traditional front engine buses. The low floor allows for easy ingress and egress from the bus resulting in lower stoppage time in bus stops as people can get in and out of the bus more quickly.
Considering the developing transport sector in our country and the demand for better commercial vehicles Eicher is on a bit of a roll to come up with products that can meet the requirements of its customer base. Earlier this year Eicher had launched an improved version of their Front Engine Heavy Duty Buses codenamed Eicher 20.15.
Eicher has launched another new model called the Eicher 11.12 bus with a four cylinder engine with a power output of 127 bhp. Eicher say that the bus can carry the same number of passenger as a six cylinder engine bus as the four cylinder engine is capable of handling the same amount of load. The new Eicher 11.12 bus is said to reduce cost of operations and lower the initial cost of acquisition of the bus.
